TERMS & conditions

Private violin lessons 2022

Violin tuition is offered subject to the following conditions.

1. Lessons

a) Lessons are one-to-one based at my home or online.

b) Lessons are normally offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis, however, there is flexibility with the schedule to suit the student.

c) 60-minute, 45-minute, or 30-minute lessons are available. The lesson length can be changed if needed, for example, if the student starts with 30-minute lessons, the student can increase to 60-minutes in future if they wish.

d) Additional lessons may be suggested, especially when approaching an exam. I will always recommend this in advance before proceeding with additional lessons. If additional lessons have been arranged, these will be charged separately.

e) I try to keep lessons scheduled for the same day and time each week to ensure there is a consistent routine. However, I understand this may not be possible and I am happy to organise lessons on a week by week basis, depending on my availability.

f) The student is responsible for attending their lesson.

2. Fees

g) Private lessons are available on a one-to-one basis. The below fees are for 2022, for online and in person lessons.

60-minute lesson - £34

h) Fees can be paid on a pay as you go basis or block payment.

k) If fees are not paid by the deadline, lessons will be put on hold until the fees are paid.

l) I will always notify you of any increase in fees.

3. Cancellation Policy

m) If I, the teacher, miss a lesson, the lesson will be rearranged at a later date. If this is not possible, the cost of the lesson will be refunded.

n) If the student cancels with less than 24 hours' notice, the full lesson fee must be paid and the lesson cannot be rearranged.

o) If the student is unable to attend the lesson, unfortunately no refund can be given. I understand there may be exceptional circumstances, therefore, I am always happy to discuss the situation.

p) (Applicable for students in education) If the student is unable to attend their lesson due to a school commitment, please give me at least two weeks’ notice to rearrange the lesson.

4. Preparation and individual practice

r) The student is required to bring their instrument and sheet music to each lesson. There is also the option to bring along a music diary to record your practice and progress, which you can refer to during individual practice.

s) The student is expected to practice regularly between lessons to maximise progress.

t) If you have anything you wish to discuss with me, do not hesitate to contact me via email rachelknowles91@gmail.com.

5. Hire and purchase of instruments

u) If you would like to look into hiring or purchasing a violin, I recommend visiting Cotswold Strings - https://cotswoldstrings.co.uk/. There is a 14-day cooling off period, starting from the first lesson, where you have the right to cancel this agreement. You must give me written notice via email or letter to confirm cancellation. After the 14 days, this agreement will be in place for the whole academic year.
