WHO I AM
I am a freelance violin teacher based in Cheltenham offering educational services. I am also known as the ‘data owner’ of the personal information you provide me. I collect information from you that I am required to hold. I am committed to ensuring your privacy is protected.
WHAT DATA IS COLLECTED
I may collect the pupil’s details, parent/guardian details, email, phone number, bank details, billing address, home address and any other information that may be relevant.
WHY I COLLECT THE DATA
I need certain information from you to provide my services.
I hold all personal information confidentially in accordance with the current Data Protection regulations, whether it is held on computer or in secure manual filing systems.
I will store your personal information only if you chose to provide me with it, for example, by completion of a form. In these circumstances, any personal information supplied will only be used to provide the requested information or service.
I may ask you to consent to receive further information about my services.
HOW I COLLECT THE DATA
I collect information through your use of my services. This may be collected via website forms, paper forms, email, and phone call.
WHAT I DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION
In addition to using your information to provide the pupil violin lessons, I use your information for internal record keeping, to stay in contact with you whilst lessons are ongoing and to contact you to see if you wish to continue lessons.
HOW LONG I KEEP YOUR INFORMATION FOR
Your information and any data, (i.e. contact details), are deleted within one year of the pertaining academic year end in case of any necessary follow up. Pupil’s details, for example, exam results, may be kept up to 7 years to document my teaching record and track trends in exam comments to help target my teaching. Invoices are kept for 7 years as per tax regulations.
HOW I PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION & SHARING DATA
I will not transfer your information to any other organisation.
There may be times when I will share the pupil’s data and parent/guardian data to my accountant, bank (transfers), exam boards, child’s school. Outside of these circumstances, I will always ask your permission before sharing your information.
Physical and electronic security measures have been implemented to protect data from loss, misuse, or unauthorised alteration or destruction.
Please note, however, that where you are transmitting information to me over the internet, this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
I will notify you promptly in the event of any breach of your information which might expose you to serious risk.
Under the Data Protection Legislation, you have the right to:
Access your information.
Be provided with details of how your information is processed.

Have your personal data erased in certain circumstances.
Object to or restrict how your information is processed. Have your information transferred to you or to another business in certain circumstances.

WHAT IS A COOKIE?
