I have studied violin for over 20 years and graduated in BA (Hons) Music with 2:1 from Bath Spa University and became Principal 2nd Violin for Bath Spa University Orchestra. Along with teaching and performing, I am training to become a qualified Music Therapist.
For 15 years, I performed and toured with orchestras, chamber ensembles and string quartets. I have also been involved in session work, pit work (musicals), recording film music and compositions.
Ensembles I have performed with include Future Dub Orchestra, Bristol Sinfonia, Gloucestershire Symphony Orchestra and South West Youth Orchestra, where I had the opportunity to be mentored and perform alongside Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra players. During my time performing in a string quartet, we were involved in workshops with the Carducci String Quartet.
I have toured in Austria and Germany and performed in a number of venues in the UK, including, Cheltenham Town Hall, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, The Colston Hall and St. George’s Hall in Bristol, Wells Cathedral, Bath Abbey, The Assembly Rooms and The Holbourne Museum in Bath.
Along with session work, I am the violinist for indie/rock cover band Hear The Spheres performing in the Gloucestershire area at gigs, festivals, weddings and other functions.
Having studied instrumental teaching at university and leading music sessions after graduating, I would like to share my skills with others as I have a passion for violin and supporting others to develop.
I have experience in the ABRSM syllabus but have knowledge with other exam boards. If you are interested in learning violin exam-free then I also welcome this!
